Workers clipped on to a guarded walkway on the side of a high-rise

Melbourne

Height safety across Melbourne's suburbs.

Roof anchors, static lines, ladders, guardrail, walkways and plant platforms for commercial buildings, apartments and schools. We work for builders including Hansen Yuncken, Lendlease, Kane Constructions and Plan Group.

Builders' work, done to the program

Most of our Melbourne work comes through builders. Commercial, education and residential projects need the roof access package designed, installed and certified in time for handover, with paperwork that holds up when the client's consultants check it.

Builders we've worked for include Hansen Yuncken, Lendlease, Kane Constructions, Plan Group, Nicholson Construction and Bldg.Eng.

Apartment buildings and owners corporations

Melbourne has thousands of apartment buildings with anchors, static lines and roof ladders installed at handover and not looked at since. Height safety equipment needs periodic inspection to stay in service. Without it, the safe assumption is that it shouldn't be used, which leaves trades with no compliant way to service the roof.

We inspect and recertify those systems, whoever installed them, rebuild missing logbooks and layout plans, and quote plainly for anything that fails. For owners corporations and strata managers with several buildings, we put them all on one inspection cycle.

Schools and commercial roofs

Schools, offices and retail buildings all carry rooftop plant that contractors service through the year. Walkways, plant platforms, step-overs and guardrail give them a fixed, safe route, like the plant platform we built at Melton Christian College.

Height safety systems we install and certify in Melbourne

Roof anchor points

Single anchors for fall arrest or restraint, fixed into structure that can take the load, not just the sheeting.

Static lines

Horizontal lifelines so a worker stays connected while moving along a roof, a gutter or a ridge.

Roof guardrail

Fixed or freestanding rail at edges, around plant and at roof hatches, so nobody needs a harness to work there.

Roof walkways

Set routes to plant and gutters that keep people off brittle sheeting, skylights and slate.

Fixed ladders and ladder lines

Caged or uncaged ladders with landings to AS 1657, and vertical ladder lines that keep the climber attached.

Roof access hatches

A safe way through the roof from inside, with guardrail around the opening.

Plant platforms and step-overs

Level, guarded decks around HVAC units, and fixed crossings over pipework, ducts and roof level changes.

Internal access

Ladders, platforms and stairs to mezzanines, ceiling spaces and plant rooms.

FAQs

Height safety in Melbourne: common questions

Do you work in Melbourne?

Yes. We're based in Ballarat and work across Melbourne's suburbs for builders, owners corporations and facility managers. Builders we've worked for include Hansen Yuncken, Lendlease, Kane Constructions, Plan Group, Nicholson Construction and Bldg.Eng.

Do you inspect apartment buildings for owners corporations?

Yes. Apartment roofs usually have anchors, static lines, ladders and hatches that need periodic inspection to stay in service. We inspect, tag and recertify them, update the logbook, and give the owners corporation a report with photos and a quote for anything that fails.

Can you work to a Tier 1 builder's program and paperwork?

Yes. We install to the program, provide the documentation the builder needs, and hand over certificates, layout plans and logbooks at completion.

Can you work on multi-storey buildings?

Yes. Roof access on taller buildings is about the roof edge, plant decks and getting up through the building safely. We design, install and certify the anchors, guardrail, ladders, hatches and platforms that go with it.

How often does a system need inspecting?

Usually every 12 months. The exact interval comes from the manufacturer and AS/NZS 1891.4, and we'll tell you what applies when we inspect it.

Can you inspect a system someone else installed?

Yes. Any brand, whoever installed it. If the records are missing, we inspect and tag it and rebuild the layout plan and logbook.
