How Does a Powder Extinguisher Work?

The dry powder extinguishers operate by releasing a specially designed fine powder through a high-pressure gas mechanism. This propels the powder from the storage cylinder. The primary component of this powder is monoammonium phosphate (MAP), which boasts exceptional fire-extinguishing properties. For Class A and E fires, the powder coats flammable materials, effectively cutting off the fire's fuel supply and halting its progression. In Class B fires, the powder interrupts flammable liquid vapor, starving the fire of fuel and instantly extinguishing it. These extinguishers are also safe for use on live electrical equipment. Rigorous testing, including a 100kV non-conductivity test for AS/NZS1841 certification, ensures their safety. This means the operator can discharge the extinguisher onto powered electrical devices or switchboards without risk.

This extinguisher is an excellent fit for residential spaces, apartments, small offices, kitchens, vehicles, cars, vans, and more.
